Create Grouped Horizontal Bar chart

Everything you need to know to create the chart you want.

Overview

Grouped Horizontal bar charts display horizontal clusters of bars so you can compare sub-groups across categories. They’re especially handy when category labels are long.

When to use it

• Comparing metrics across categories where labels require extra space.

• Analysing survey responses split by demographics.

• Highlighting differences between current vs. target values.

Avoid grouped bars if you have many series—the chart widens quickly and becomes hard to scan.

Data requirements

• Ordered or unordered categories on the y-axis.

• Multiple numeric series per category.

• Data should be sorted for readability (optional but recommended).
